There were 3 buses. Two from N.Y. and one from Westchester. Some of the kids from Westchester had to get on the bus from New York because there wasn’t enough room. : The bus ride was about seven hours long, with one half hour stop in the middle. Most people talked, joked around, read comic books, and reminisced, After a while, the trip got boring and we were dying to get to camp to see the cabins, counselors, and everyone,
When we finally arrived we saw the Rieneckers, the Veselys, and best of all Earl and Pauline. It took some time to sort us out but that was the best time.

The bus trip to camp was fun. You met new friends and old ones, and you got away from your parents for a while. There was a lunch break where we got to see our old friends and we ate with them.
When we finally got to camp we were beat. All we could see were the signs the counselors made, everyone except your own group. When you found your group you’d realize you had forgotten something on the bus. The bus ride is usually fun but at times it can be hectic,

On the buses, “Richie Rich” comics were constantly circulated, as well as the baby Boa Constrictor and two mice on the other buses.
The buses themselves had reclining seats (mine didn’t) and were air conditioned.
The staff consisted of George Bredig, Mike Humes, and Marily Rienecker.
We stopped for lunch at a rest stop, (Mike bought soda at a nearby Howard Johnson’s) and we enjoyed. After having lunch, we got back on the buses and the same old comics (which everyone had read) started circulating again,
We got to the camp and were greeted by smiling faces….
