By Dave Spicer, Falcons’ Counselor
It’s early morning, about 6:45. I walk over to the showers, enjoying the peace and quiet. After a shower, I return to my cabin feeling great. Then I hear them: the bells, and more bells! All of a sudden, it’s not so quiet. Jason and Chris, my co-counselors, and myself are now in the presence of 27 twelve year olds. They’re running around brushing teeth, running around hiding so they don’t have to brush their teeth. As we’re all getting ready for breakfast, it starts: “Dave can I… Will I… May I…. Are we…. Last year we… What’s next… What’s this afternoon… What’s for breakfast?” and so on.
So we make it through the day with the help of some Tylenol; then comes THE NIGHT, and that’s when the real fun begins! The three of us say, “Quiet down” close to 100 times. We close shop at 10:00 and end our day with a little television or a little socializing in the Dining Hall. By 11:00 or so we head back home; all in all it’s a hectic schedule, but you know, we love it!
