News from the Blue Jays—Tooth Fairy Alert! The tooth fairy has become a regular visitor at Rainbow Lodge. We’ve had three baby teeth come out in the past week. Many other Blue Jay children have loose teeth, so we expect several visits from the Tooth Fairy over the next few weeks…maybe we should make her an honorary Regis camper!?! (By the way, fifty cents seems to be the going rate for lost teeth.)
Claire Nelson reports from the AJIIB girls cabin—The AJIIB’s have had an abundance of activities this past week. However, most of them were similar to the feats we accomplished last week, but we had just as much fun. Liza Cassel was among those invited to waterski for the camp video. Rachel Shapiro, Noemi Millman, Christi Joffee, Van Naccarato and Linday Goward decorated their room and transformed it into The Mosh Pit. Our counselors (wonderful as they are) are always complaining about us leaving our cabin lights on, so when they set the bad example of leaving THEIR lights on, four campers who shall remain nameless decided to punish them by taping down their light switch with duct tape. Counselor K told us that she would have to punish us by taking out light bulbs, but she was too short to reach them. We have two new additions to our cabin: LeeAnn Fulton came on the eighth , and on the ninth, Nina Bernstein joined us. Feel free to come into our cabin and look at our dating chart, which is temporarily out of order due to Karen Stern’s bad temper. The AJIIB girls are thrilled to have completed yet another week at camp.
The AJI boys have this to report— This past week has been an interesting one. Learning new stuff, everyday has been exciting and fun. Everyone in the cabin has finally settled in after a few major clean-up periods that have made our cabin look “almost new. We have not been out of camp yet except for watching the Lion King” and “I Love Trouble.” This week we go out on a camping trip that which is greatly anticipated. Until next week–see ya!
What We Do At Camp: by the AJIIA girls—We have 18 girls in our cabin. We are the Queens of the Palace. We are always late, but we’ve improved. Once our lights were left on, so Kristen took them out. We like to eat food. We take lots of showers, so we are clean. We talk Camille language. Crusty. We have a wall of fame. Buffalo Soldier and Bob Marley. Emily hates unlocking her trunk. Wow. We all went to the movies AND we went white water rafting. We all think camp is fun. Woaa–
Hello again from the Eagle I boys!—The past week has been very exciting: The cabin has finally come together as a group. We even improved our cabin inspection score by 19 points thanks to a full team effort. Aside from the regular scheduled activities in which our cabin has been involved in this past week, we went on our first night camping trip on Thursday We hiked to our camp site and set up camp. Even our trip agreed that our cabin was helpful in setting up. Our cabin soon found things that the wilderness has to offer to occupy our time. Some fished, some went exploring, and some just enjoyed the peace to read. We send a warm thank you to the trip leader who led us on such a successful and safe trip.
Everyone has enjoyed their letters and care packages from home. Thanks so much. —The Nest
This past week found the Cardinal II boys with high expectations—We eagerly awaited the arrival of Satoru Bauman, the final camper to join our group this session. The campers looked forward to their first full week of regular programing while Joe and CR were more than a little looking forward to their first day off. As the week progressed, we participated in the usual spectrum of activities. The accomplishments of each camper are far too numerous to list; a few stand out though, as being truly outstanding. During a basketball workshop, Connor proved to be the hero as he calmly sunk the tying basket in a relay. Peter has developed into a rather avid gymnast while Ted and Chad enjoyed an evening of sailing for the cameras. And of course, the incomparable Sammy dazzled us on the piano in the talent show. We look forward to another week of excitement and everyone is very much anticipating parent’s visitation. We also want to wish the girls’ sports teams luck this week at Poco (and offer a knowing wink to the boys teams who wisely decided not to challenge us).
News for the week from the Falcon girls by: Ashley Heit—We all went on a trip (Falcon boys too) that was 4.4 miles in total. The girls had to walk, but catch this – the boys had through the storm – but we all got there in one piece. When 10 was raining, we all had to stay in the gazebo. While we were there, we bought candy, but we had to eat it all because we aren’t allowed to bring it back to camp. On the someone found a butterfly, and brought it back center, and it is still there today. The tradition in room two is when all the in room two is when all the counselors leave, w all get up and dance and sing to the husky-low theme started Emily Bona-Cohen. Then when we are supposed to be we sing. Then we performed the play Cinderella and guys had to dress like girls, and the fairy godmother had guy who acted like a girl and a guy at the s news for this week!
