As we enter our last day and prepare for our banquet meal and final campfire. I am amazed at how quickly the summer has passed. We all have many memories to take home with us and to keep during the winter and during the year to come. These memories of camp life and camp friendships made within our special caring community mark a time and place in our lives which is unique to this summer, for even if we return to camp in the future years, it will be different in many ways.
As Pauline said at one of our Sunday morning meetings, when we leave each other, as sad as we may be, we take a little part of everyone who has touched our lives with us as we go. So… as we leave camp, I hope that all of you will remember your summer, and, whether camper or staff, know that you have contributed greatly to our community and have brought something special into the lives of each other.
Pauline and I hope that many of you will be able to return next summer. The fruits of community and camping are never entirely reaped. New campers, staff, interests, activities, and new experiences will continue to enrich each summer and make each of us …young and old… fuller and more meaningful individuals.
I wish all of you a healthy and happy winter.
