Greetings from the Playhouse. First session is over and second session is winding down with a BANG! “Guys and Dolls” was a smashing success and we are all looking forward to our production of “Jungle Book”. It should be a swinging show! Jonathon is working on the piano store and is teaching an AJ Camper to play the store for when he leaves early. Christine is choreographing the dance with...
Inter-camp games have been a great success. On July 11th we traveled to Camp Chateaugay where we played two divisions of boys soccer. The AJ’s outplayed their counterparts scoring six goals to one. The Regis boys played a highly competitive game which ended up in a victory for us. On the July 19th we hosted Camp Pok- O-MacCready to an all day sporting event. The sports that we competed in...
The AJ II A girls have been having a really great time at camp. Our cabin works well together making camp fun and enjoyable for everyone. The highlights for us have been canoeing to Paul Smiths, going to the movies, watching the Montreal baseball game and being active in all of the different areas of camp. Our whole cabin looks forward to the rest of the summer because it will...
It’s off to a good summer with the Cardinal Girls. It has only been one week and already they have been busy playing softball, soccer, and getting to play in Birch Lodge with the many games such as pool, air hockey, ping pong, and fooze ball. Boating has been an excitement for the girls because they are getting to try new things such as canoeing and fun-yaking. Some are even...
Second session was a nice change in the AJ II B girls cabin. We were able to unite the group of first session and second session into one big happy community of teens! It was difficult at first because we missed our friends from first session, but shortly after the first few days we are now one big happy family. Already we’ve done so much as a cabin group. No...
The Eagle Girls have been doing a lot of cool stuff over the past week. For example, we went to a trumpet concert at The Lake Placid Arts Center, they played the Chips Ahoy and Superman theme songs. Yesterday, we went on an overnight camping trip to Paul Smiths. Some of the girls slept in a lean too, the others slept in tents. We gave each other lots of support...
Colden Lodge is an International Soup with hardy culture to satisfy any palate. AJ II A & B have worked together to achieve perfect synergy. Boating is a must in our weekly schedule where we master our strokes and our paddling. The newbies (the new boys), came scared and unknown, but have risen to the occasion in our cabin activities. Mornings are a very pleasant time for campers where the...
Robin Girls dancing, singing, running, swimming; they do it all with ease and they are sure to please. The Robin Girls have been working hard on a musical number from Annie that they will perform on parents visiting week-end. They are also excited to see their counselors perform the song “Robin Girls” (originally “Little Girls” from Annie) in the same show. This song is about how much the counselors love...
We have had a great season. We have studied insects and had an insect catching contest. We made yummy snacks called “dirt cups” with pudding, cookies and gummy worms. We had no idea that bugs could taste so delicious!” In the camp within the camp activity period, we organized an archaeological dig. The campers worked in teams to unearth a lost civilization. The team made a site map and then...
There are moments and times at camp which stand apart from the rest. One such time was a chilly Friday morning (7:00 am) during the Polar Bear Swim. The Adirondacks experienced one of its coldest mornings in history! With a water temperature of 76 degrees, the 33 early risers were greeted by a lake covered in a thick layer of fog. The moment was magical. After a short jog and...
