Nature Navigators!!!

Jul 11, 2001

The nature area is in full swing with frog catchers galore. I plan to start with insect activities. We have plenty of bug catchers and magnifying glasses. On night activities we will be studying glowers and flashers, and doing a night safari with flashlights. We have plenty of puppies, kittens and rabbits to go around for petting. Come on down and join the fun! – Michelle Van Vorst, Nature specialist

Summer is off to an exciting start down at boating. We have both newbies and veterans on staff this year. Mark Mitchell has returned to Camp Regis Applejack after a seventeen year hiatus. Josh Barnard has also returned to the boating staff. Our new comers are Megan Shottes, Olivia Hammond, and Meghan Farrell. We have a lot to offer at boating, including rowing, canoeing, sailing, fishing, windsurfing, kneeboarding, water-skiing and...

What’s playin’ at the Roxy? I’ll tell you what’s plain at the Roxy. Guys and Dolls is playin”………at the Regis/Applejack Playhouse, July 19th. We have a cast of 70 from both Regis and Applejack. During the activity periods the playhouse is alive...

Athletics

Jul 8, 2001

The athletics department is off to a flying start. Our department is comprised of a number of dynamic and energetic individuals. Led by Valentine Walker, a school teacher from Miami, his job is to organize and coordinate most of the athletic activities at camp. Rhondi Archer hails from Pennsylvania, heads up events in archery and basketball. Gethin Lynch comes to us from Wales. He is very athletic and prefers soccer,...

Arts and Crafts

Jul 4, 2001

Art and crafts have been a busy place. Campers have been working with clay, making everything from pinch pots to bas relief plaques. Several campers have tried their hand at the potters’ wheel. The Eagle and Cardinal boys have been making “action figures” of themselves in action at camp. Using foil for the armature, they are using plaster strips to cover their figures. Many campers have been making watercolor postcards...

The Waterfront

Jul 3, 2001

The Waterfront includes many fun activities such as water aerobics, water polo, water relays, sandcastle building (we found turtle eggs!) and beach parties. A group of swimmers brave the elements three mornings a week at 7 am for the polar bear swim. The “polar bears” include: Ryan Marguiles, Sean McCormick, Tomofumi Nasuno, Michael Salazar, Daniel Winnicki, Chris Giraldo, Kelvin Ainsworth, Ben Levitt and Noah Witke.

Musical Notes from Camp

Jul 2, 2001

One of the pleasure of camp has always been the opportunity to hear birds calling and leaves on the trees rustling in the breeze. For me as “the music man” here for a second year at camp, an additional pleasure has been once again hearing the sounds of recorders and guitars all around the camp as campers counselors take advantage of the chance to take up or brush up on...

Jul 1, 2001

A summer day in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains brings a cool clear morning with mist rising on Upper St Regis Lake and the bells of Camp Regis-Applejack ringing to call campers to breakfast and the beginning of another fun filled day. Walk through the camp and you will see campers busy in nature, music, dance, sailing, water-skiing, swimming, archery, tennis, soccer, field games, indoor games such as pool, ping pong...
