Welcome campers, to Camp Regis Applejack’s Arts & Crafts corner. We have a lot of creative fun planned for the summer and can’t wait for all of you to get started. A few groups have already completed coil/pinch pots and have moved on to papier-mâché masks. Campers, however, are not the only ones learning crafts; quite a few Regis ladies have taught us counselors how to macramé bracelets. We invite all of you to share you artistic talents with all of us, counselor and camper alike!
Making a return to the summer lineup at Camp Regis Applejack is photography. Campers will be taking photographs in black and white, using as their subjects our own athletes, dancers, actors etc., as well as the natural beauty that abounds in the Adirondacks. So, beware! That click, click sound you hear behind you is not a goblin or a strange mountain beast; it is simply one of our developing (groan!) camp photographers.
This season, drama counselors Suzanne Bracken and Rosemary LaFave are proud to be presenting two musical classics, “South Pacific” by Rogers and Hammerstein, and “Music Man” by Merideth Wilson.
Our first-half show, “South Pacific,” features such beautiful melodies as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Bali Hai,” and that peppy little tune, “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.”
Our second-half production, “Music Man,” boasts its most well known song, “Lida Rose” sung by a barbershop quartet. Other popular tunes are “Goodnight My Someone” and “Trouble” (folks right here in River City). We’re looking forward to working with a most talented camper group this year. Also, we hope to create visually stunning effects on the new raised stage and newly improved lighting system. We know everyone will enjoy the shows!
