1950s Camp Pamphlet

Dec 30, 2019

Want a blast from the past? Check out this digitized archive of one of Camp Regis Applejack’s old brochures. The date of publication for these camp brochures was from the 1950s to the 1960s. This was over a decade before current camp owner Michael Humes took over Camp Regis Applejack from his parents and the founders of the kid’s summer camp, Earl and Pauline Humes. Check out the brochure.

Safety and Risk Management at Camp Regis Applejack

Dec 10, 2019

I recently traveled to Albuquerque to attend the Wilderness Risk Management Conference, which was excellent and gave me multiple opportunities to reflect on the importance of outdoor recreation and on what we do at Camp Regis Applejack (CRAJ) to keep campers safe. There are multiple layers to unpack here, but I will start with the topic of risk itself. The president of the American Camp Association shared an article with...

CRAJ Scholarship Program

Nov 20, 2019

We are really excited to announce our partnership with the American Camp Association to create a scholarship fund for Camp Regis Applejack (CRAJ). For 75 years we at Camp Regis Applejack have strived to bring in children from all backgrounds to experience camping. When Pauline and Earl Humes founded the camp after WWII they recognized the importance for campers to learn the values of diversity, acceptance, kindness, and teamwork. In...

Summer 2019 Overview

Oct 12, 2019

We had a great summer in 2019! There were just over 70 campers in total over the six week season. We obtained our permit from the NY Department of Health in June and welcomed our first group of campers on June 30. We admitted a roughly equal mix of local day campers, and overnight campers. Some of the highlights in the first 3 weeks were climbing St. Regis, fireworks in...

Why Camp Regis Applejack

Jan 23, 2019

As a parent, educator and camp leader, one of the topics I find most compelling is the importance of outdoor play to a child’s development and the strong negative impact that smart phones and technology have had in that area. Of course, technology plays an important role in our lives in 2019, but there are some flashing warning signs we would do well to pay attention to as parents and...

Sixty Years of Summer Camp

Mar 4, 2004

This article was written by Kathleen McGinn Spring on March 3rd, 2004 for U.S.1 Publicationshttps://princetoninfo.com/sixty-years-of-summer-camp/ Pauline Humes will be returning for her 60th year at camp in June. She and her husband, the late Earl Humes, founded Camp Regis in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State shortly after World War II. Sitting in the living room of her home in Meadow Lakes, overlooking a frozen pond backed by woods...

Cabin Chatter!

Jul 10, 1994

So far, we, the boys of Eagles 2, have done quite a bit. Athletics, drama, music, boating are just a few of the activities that have been keeping us very busy. This year, there are 17 Eagle 2’s in Crescent Lodge East. We have two campers from Puerto Rico, one from Mexico, one from France and others from all over the country. Added to the camper population are our two...
