This December 2020 we are excited to announce and feature our new CRAJ Scholarship Program that is going to help us support our large amount of campers on full or partial scholarships and give the experience of summer camp to even more children. CRAJ Scholarship Program

Nov 20, 2019

We are really excited to announce our partnership with the American Camp Association to create a scholarship fund for Camp Regis Applejack (CRAJ). For 75 years we at Camp Regis Applejack have strived to bring in children from all backgrounds to experience camping. When Pauline and Earl Humes founded the camp after WWII they recognized the importance for campers to learn the values of diversity, acceptance, kindness, and teamwork. In...

Camp Regis Applejack is excited to announce the appointment of Emily Yancey Humes as their Associate Director. Miss. Yancey Humes is posed to be the third generation of Humes to own and run the children’s summer camp. The camp was founded in 1945 by Earl and Pauline Humes and was one of the first non-denominational institutions, it has since been run by their son Michael Humes.  “I am so excited...

Three New Lodges Open For 1994 Season

Jun 5, 1994

For the past several months, the denizens of Camp Regis Applejack have been serenaded by hammers, saws, drills and grinding gears. When the “music” stopped, our grounds boasted three new buildings, and a renovated playhouse. The new additions – Rainbow, Pathfinders, and Timbercrest Lodges – will house Regis campers and Apprentice Counselors respectively. The Playhouse now has a raised stage and a center curtain that will enhance summer productions. In...

293 Campers Arrive Safely

Jun 1, 1994

The harsh wind and misty rain did not stop the 1994 Regis Applejack staff from completing all the final tasks in preparation for the arrival of nearly 300 campers from all over the world and from across the United States on Tuesday. Although the weather “dampened” some of our diligent staff, none of the newly-arrived campers seemed to even notice the rain, the wind, or the mud. Shouts of joy...

Music Added to Performing Arts Program

May 21, 1994

In addition to our already existing, fabulous drama and dance programs, we have added a music program that looks to be something rather special. Kelly Deyo, a Music Education Major at SUNY Potsdam, will be working with both instruments, which can be easily transported to camp, should plan to bring their instrument and participate in this new program. We have plans to get together some instrument and choral performances for...

Camp Acquires New Bus

May 18, 1994

As if the new van mentioned in the March Newsletter was not enough, we now have a new 48 passenger bus. With the addition of this bus, trips out of camp will be undertaken with less of a “caravan” and more comfort to the campers and staff. We will be able to have more versatility in the Thursday “Bunk Day” trips – getting out to trailheads for a day of...

They also do a multitude fo other jobs which include, but are not limited to: driving buses, cooking meals on Thursdays (cook’s day off), scheduling groups for activities and showers, driving ski boats, lifeguarding, leading singing at...

New Vehicle Added to the Camp Regis Applejack Fleet

Mar 20, 1994

Camp has purchased a 12-passenger, white, Dodge van. With the addition of this vehicle to our existing fleet of 3 buses, 2 vans, and 2 station wagons, we will have a greater ability to take advantage of all the special programs offered around our Adirondack region during the summer. It will also provide us additional transportation to take campers to the trailheads and canoe drop-offs as we explore the mountains,...
