The Night Before Camp
‘Twas the night before the first day of camp the campers were home sleeping as their parents did pack and the counselors were preparing for Camp Regis Applejack. As the parents packed each child with care the counselors hoped they soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of water-skiing danced in their heads. Jim in his kerchief and Tom in his cap had just settled down for a short summer nap. When out of nowhere there arose such a clatter, Tom and Jim sprang from their beds to see what was the matter. Away to the window they flew like a flash, tore open the curtain and threw up the sash. The sun on the breast of the new fallen rain gave the luster of midday to the objects it claimed. When what to their wondering eyes should appear but a Greyhound bus with 11 campers standing there. With a little old driver all covered in fumes, they knew in a moment it must be Mike Humes. More rapid than eagles his courses they came, and he whistled and called them by names Now Tommy and Ben, Ryan, Senchi, and Paul. On Alex, Sean, Mike, Dan and Robert and John. To the top of the porch of Marcy Lodge. Camp is here, camp is here and we’re gonna have a ball!!!
